I’m a researcher and developer working between media art and probabilistic machine learning. On this lab R&D blog I write about stuff I do and think about. I come from a background in physics and I’m currently pursuing a PhD in computer science at the AI lab at the VUB.

My artistic and scientific work moves between scientific formalism and artistic intuition. It is mostly about the nature of human consciousness — how it both experiences and re-presents the world around us. As artist and scientist, I strongly believe that both art (experience) and science (re-presentation) benefit from mutual interaction, as I think that good art and good science are, at their best, addressing and raising the same questions.

My work is organized into three categories. My music and media projects are at /media. Science, publications and development are at /research. Everything else is deposited in the /vault: mostly musings about consciousness and Alexander Technique.
